| The Frontline Management Initiative (FLM)
is designed to identify and improve the skills and knowledge
of frontline managers to better fulfil the responsibilities
of their jobs. Through better performance, front line managers
are able to increase productivity at the operational level,
because their role is pivotal to production or service and getting
the job done
Frontline Managers are required to translate management concepts
into workplace action plans, enabling workplace safety, team
performance and processes to be improved. In a changing world,
the Frontline Management Initiative can help to develop leadership
for change and help with succession planning.
One of the major advantages of this Frontline Management Initiative
is that it is customised and made specific for you. Your competencies
are also developed and enhanced on the job – that is,
you achieve these competencies and formal recognition, not by
attending a lengthy course in a classroom setting, but rather
your learning occurs in the normal course of your day to day
work.
Our Frontline Management Initiative has two qualification levels:
BSB41004: Certificate IV in Business (Frontline Management)
BSB51004: Diploma of Business (Frontline Management)
In 1995, the Karpin report revealed that over 450,000 managers
had technical skills but no management qualifications. The findings
highlighted the following significant failures in Australian
management practice:
* over reliance on short courses
* low levels of education and training
* over emphasis on current rather than future skills
* failure to handle the transition from specialist to manager
* failure to link management development to strategic business
direction
* failure to evaluate the effectiveness of management development
The Frontline Management Initiative is based on the Australian
Qualifications Framework (AQF), A series of nationally recognised
levels of achievement. The AQF is a nationally consistent framework
for all qualifications recognised in post-compulsory education
throughout Australia.
